If McCain wins, look for a full-fledged race and class war, fueled by a deflated and depressed country, soaring crime, homelessness - and hopelessness!

The election is still several months away and already liberals are threatening what will happen if Barack Obama loses.  Vote for our guy or it will be anarchy!

"Race war" is certainly hyperbole that only a newspaper columnist could generate, but by the same token, it is easy to envision a scenario in which a lot of misguided bitterness is expressed in the event Obama should lose.

Political Punch

An exchange Barrack Obama had with reporters prior to his speech in Berlin [via Jake Tapper's Political Punch]:

A reporter noted that the campaign has been distributing fliers to Berliners to drum up attendance.

"Why don't you guys go out and distribute some fliers?" Obama asked. "Is that a conflict for you guys?"

Joked a cable news correspondent: "We have been. It's called television."

It's not a joking matter at this point to those of us who think Obama is being shoved down our throats 24/7, it's an absurd amount of coverage.

How Much of an Affect Will Obamapalooza Have on the Polls?

As of now, John McCain tends to trail Barrack Obama by 4%, depending on the poll.  However, most of those polls were completed before Obama's tour of the Middle East and Europe began or concluded.  It will be interesting to see how the polling trends change after Obama has returned to America.

Changing History

Senator Obama's geographical/historical illiteracy is rearing its ugly head again [link: CNN.com]:

Throughout our history, America's confronted constantly evolving danger, from the oppression of an empire, to the lawlessness of the frontier, from the bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor, to the threat of nuclear annihilation. Americans have adapted to the threats posed by an ever-changing world.

The man also has said we have 57 states and that Afghanis speak Arabic.  The quote above was taken from a scripted speech -- imagine what this guy might actually say in an unscripted debate?

Hopefully we'll get one.

A Welcome Change

Scanning today's headlines yields a promising trend in the campaign for president:  a focus on the issues.  The headlines are filled with talk on taxes and energy independence and you have to believe that if substance receives more attention than style, John McCain stands a pretty good chance of coming out on top in November.

The Hindsight on Stem Cells

Charles Krauthammer points out that with recent developments in stem cell research, President Bush's stance against public funding was vindicated.

Krauthammer discusses in hindsight how it was wrong to vilify Bush for the moral stance he took, and thats true.  But was always got me about the issue was that Bush never handed down some edict that said all embryonic stem cell research was illegal, he just said there would be no public funding for it.  What a lot of people tended to forget was that there was plenty of room for private funding and if the research was really promising.

It's almost as if people forget there are other ways to get things done than by going through the government.
